About H₂Malaysia

A national platform, industry-led.

Hydrogen Malaysia (H₂Malaysia) is the national, industry-led platform established to drive the growth, coordination and adoption of hydrogen technologies in support of Malaysia's Hydrogen Economy & Technology Roadmap 2022–2050 — underpinned by the “Build Some, Buy Some” model, the clean energy transition and green economy goals.

The Role

The central facilitator.

H₂Malaysia connects government agencies, industry players, research institutions and investors to develop a robust hydrogen ecosystem. It actively supports national hydrogen initiatives such as the Sarawak Hydrogen Hub, the H2B Project and the Hydrogen Economy Technology R&D Implementation Programme (HETR-IP) led by NanoMalaysia Berhad.

Through strategic partnerships with international organisations such as the Global Hydrogen Industrial Association Alliance (GHIAA), H₂Malaysia aligns Malaysia's hydrogen development with global targets, standards and best practices — positioning the nation as a regional hydrogen hub.

Core Mandate

Four commitments, one agenda.

  1. Champion national policy

    Champion national hydrogen policies and support government roadmaps under NETR and HETR.

  2. Drive ecosystem development

    Across production, storage, transport, safety standards and end-use applications — mobility, industrial heat and power.

  3. Facilitate collaboration

    Industry collaborations, joint ventures and international partnerships that position Malaysia as a regional hydrogen hub.

  4. Localise technology

    Promote R&D and technology localisation to strengthen Malaysian capabilities.

H₂Malaysia is coordinated and facilitated by NanoMalaysia Berhad, serving as Secretariat and key implementing agency.

Governance structure: Chairman (H₂Malaysia) and President (SEDC Energy), with four committees — Policy (UNITEN), Technical (Hydrexia), Commercial (Ace Gases), Management Planning (HyPERTech Industries) — coordinated by NanoMalaysia Berhad as Secretariat.
